October Cool Down

Kailua Town cools down and lights up the night of October 11 for the 6th annual Cool Kailua Nights Block Party. A gaggle of local artists, food vendors, businesses and retailers will fill Kailua Town Center to have fun and raise funds for Boys & Girls Club Windward Clubhouse and Castle Medical Center’s Oncology Unit. Last year’s event raised more than $41,000 for Windward beneficiaries, and this year’s bash will be even bigger with the first-ever CKN fun run, hosted in conjunction with the first-ever Nite Run (an after dark 5K with DJs and glow sticks).

“Cool Kailua Nights started out of a personal passion to honor my mother who was undergoing cancer treatment and support the entire community and anyone affected with cancer,” shares Danielle Scherman, Cool Kailua Night’s Founder. “For me, it’s a way of giving back by bringing people together for a fun time, while raising money for a worthwhile cause!”

Kapena returns to entertain the masses with a host of other island musicians. And of course, the popular doggie fashion show will be back with barks of approval.

“This year, attendees can expect to enjoy great entertainment, a variety of fun local food offerings, keiki rides, snow land, silent auction, 40+ booths, local artisan crafts and much more,” Scherman says. “This will truly be a magical night for all, and I hope the entire Kailua community and beyond will come out to enjoy the block party and Nite Run, participate and feel good knowing their contributing to two very worthwhile causes.”

Cool Kailua Nights continues to draw an estimated annual 10,000 attendees is always looking for new vendors and sponsors! Early bird discounts will be offered until August 20. For more information and to register, go to www.coolkailuanights.com.
