Kailua goes Red, White and Blue

Fourth of July kicks off bang in Kailua Town! From a jubilant morning parade to a sparkling fireworks showcase after dark, we’re in for quite an Independence Day celebration on the Windward side!

Rise to view Kailua’s 68th Independence Day Parade from 10 a.m. to noon. Music, entertainment, community groups and vehicles festooned in red, white and blue will march in a lively procession from Palapu Street to Kailua Intermediate School. Line the streets and look for the festive Honolulu Star-Advertiser and Honolulu Pulse cars! A few go Kailua team members will be marching in the celebration—and passing out holiday-themed goodies! For more information about the parade, visit the Kailua Chamber of Commerce website at www.kailuachamber.com.

Come sundown, the 65th annual Kailua Fireworks spectacular blasts off! Round up friends and relatives and venture to Kailua Beach Park to watch colorful lights jump and dance across the sky. Grab those smartphones and capture the twilight celebration, which starts at 8 p.m., from Castle Beach to Kailua Boat Ramp.
