The Ulupo Heiau Ho‘ike, held July 23, a free celebration of the history and culture of Kawainui and the Kailua ahupua‘a, was a day filled with hula, cultural demonstrations, educational exhibits, Hawaiian crafts and plant sales, and more. Kailua Hawaiian Civic Club and ‘Ahahui Malama I ka Lokahi are co-curators of Ulupo Heiau state park complex and conduct service projects on the second Saturday of each month to restore its ethnobotanical and cultural features.
